Democracy Reporting International – Essential Elements of Democracy

Written in the context of the Arab Spring, this report explores the implications of the UN General Assembly’s seven essential elements of democracy in the hope of offering support to the debate in Egypt, Tunisia and other countries in the region, about what, exactly, a democratic state should look like.
