The European Partnership for Democracy (EPD) in cooperation with its member the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) kindly invites you to a discussion on corruption, elections, inclusiveness and accountability.
Why are women and youth still a minority in parliaments around the world? And why does corruption persist in political systems despite decades of investment in transparency? This panel discussion explores the interconnected challenges of corruption and exclusion, by looking at the cost of getting into politics.
The discussion will be informed by cross-country research of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) on how the cost of politics feeds into cycles of corruption. Speakers will explore the relationship between corruption, inclusiveness and accountability, taking lessons from the field to shed light on the implications for donors and practitioners.
