ALDA has launched a new Local Democracy Agency (LDA) in Mariupol on 9 December 2017. This breakthrough for the promotion of local democracy and good governance deserved a celebration. Therefore, the inauguration brought together mayors, members of the Ukrainian parliament, representatives of civil society and NGOs to discuss local democracy in Mariupol. The city was described as the beacon of European values by several speakers, stressing the importance of this LDA for defending democracy in Europe’s Eastern-most city.
