On Friday 6th June 2014, EPD organised a presentation on the results of the EU-funded programme INSPIRED at Residence Palace in Brussels. The event was attended by the EEAS, EU member states and democracy support organisations.

INSPIRED aims at enhancing the inclusiveness of policy dialogue processes in countries undergoing democratic transition. The work of the programme in Ghana, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Tunisia has been based on an inclusive national dialogue between civil society, government institutions and other stakeholders.

The objective of the event was to review the dialogue processes in Moldova, Kyrgyzstan and Tunisia and to discuss the upcoming practitioners’ handbook on facilitating inclusive dialogue on policy reform. The country managers from Moldova and Tunisia presented the successes and challenges of their respective dialogue projects and answered questions from the audience. The discussions focused on the time frame for effective and sustainable dialogue, the three phases of the INSPIRED methodology (collective assessment, trust and consensus building, and monitoring, advocacy and donor alignment), the selection of dialogue stakeholders and the mainstreaming of a culture of cooperation and trust throughout the political system in target countries.

The event was followed by a round table discussion on the EU Democracy Profiles and Action Plans, which was hosted by EPD.
